It is a great honour for me to serve as lady
captain in our centenary year of 2010. I am confident it will be a
very successful year for the club as I will be ably assisted by my
Lady Vice Captain Teresa McGuire and hard working committee.
Taking over the reigns from past captain Clair Cooke has been
facilitated in no small part by her exceptional work in laying
foundations for good club practices. I intend to continue with these
practices which should result in increasing membership and growing
the club into the future.
Sincere thanks to all our sponsors who have unfailingly supported
our club over the years. I ask you support them whenever you get the
opportunity as they are the reason we can play in over sixty
competitions throughout the year.
I look forward to working with Captain Des Cronin this year and wish
him and his hard working committee every success. Also
congratulations to past captain Michael O’Malley who impressed with
his work ethic and can do attitude.
A packed programme of events is been planned for our centenary year.
I look forward to welcoming many golfers from outside our club to
our course and facilities as the club will be hosting the following
Connaught events :
- Connacht Seniors
Amateur Open in June
- Irish Mixed
Foursomes Connaught finals in July
- Ladies Charity
ILGU team event in August
I look forward to representing the club to the best of my ability
and hope that it will be a healthy and happy year for all.
Yours in golf,
Frances Burke
Lady Captain.
