To have been
elected Lady Captain for 2012 is for me an honour and a privilege
which I fully appreciate. I want to thank Teresa McGuire for
inviting me to be her Vice Captain in 2011. I accept the role of
Captain in the full knowledge of the dedication and commitment to
the Club of Past Captains and Committees.
I would like to say a special word of thanks to Siobhan Leonard who
has agreed to serve as our Lady President for another year and to
Elaine Smith who has agreed to be my Vice Captain. We have an
excellent committee and working together I have no doubt but that we
will have another successful year.
Thankfully our sponsors continue to support us and we must
acknowledge their help by supporting them.
The indications so far this year is that new members, both male and
female, are joining our club and we will ensure by our programmes to
make it an enjoyable experience for them.
We have an excellent 18 hole parkland course which has received wide
acclaim among the golfing fraternity. We have excellent facilities
for visitors and societies who are always welcome. The Ballina
experience is as much about social as it is about golf which is why
those who come here leave saying “we will be back”.
I would like to wish Captain Paddy O’Donnell and his committee all
the best for 2012.
